Casual Friday

Its not Friday anymore but I snapped this picture on Friday because I LOVE casual Friday. For most people casual Friday just means they get to throw on a t-shirt and jeans but for me its just another excuse to come up with a fun outfit. Every Friday I either wear a t-shirt of some sort or something with the schools name on. Gotta show my school spirit!

I love wearing my Avengers shirt because the kids at school either love it or make fun of it. I added my chambray shirt and I love it. This is a good example of a way to wear that chambray shirt!
Friday was the last day of the school year so I had to share it with you. There wont be any more casual Fridays until after summer! yay!

Enjoy!

Enrichment Recap

So this past Tuesday I volunteered myself to present at the enrichment activity. I normally wouldn't do something like this but I decided I need to start making some friends. Normally I only hang out with my family because I am so busy and tired that I don't have time for friends. I figure going to these activities for an hour once a month is a good way to at least know some women in the ward.  I had a great time with it but I feel bad because I took WAY to much time. There was three of us who presented so I will tell you a couple of things I remember about theirs and then tell you about mine. That way if you missed it or can't remember what I talked about then you can look back at this.

I will start with my cute friend Tori Allen

She talked about skin care. She knows her stuff so it was really cool. She taught us that we need to wash our faces morning and night. Ask me if I do that? Nope! I am going to try better though because I want my skin to stay nice. Right now I only wash mine at night. We also learned that white is the new tan! As some of you know I LOVE to be tan so this is hard one for me. She talked a lot about other stuff that I have no idea how to explain but you can like her page on facebook. She has a cute spa room in her house and she does fun giveaways so check her out!

Okay now for my sister Brittney Evans

She talked all about hair. She is a cosmologist so she knows her stuff.  She taught us about some things we should not do to our hair. The one I remember most is don't use box color! Its bad for your hair and it never comes out! She also talked about not using to much heat on your hair and using good products. I have to say I am sort of biased because I love everything Paul Mitchell but there is a huge different I promise. I used to always just use stuff from Walmart but now I pay for the nice stuff. It is hard to pull out that kind of money for shampoo or shaping cream but it last FOREVER so it is worth it. I will never go back. She talked about lots of other cool stuff and I learned lots of new words but I don't want to butcher what she said. Maybe some time I will have her write a  blog post for my blog so that you can learn some cool stuff from her. She doesn't have a facebook page for her business yet but she does an awesome job so when she starts a facebook page I will let you know.

Okay my turn. . . .

The first thing I talked about was being modest but still trendy. I always say that I don't change my values to fit trends I change trends to fit my values. I am not willing to tuck and roll my garments and loose those blessings so I do a lot of LAYERING! Here are a couple of examples:

This shirt is a tank top so I threw a cardigan over it. I could also wear some sort of tee shirt underneath for a different look. So many options!

This one is super grainy but this dress is a tube top with a long sleeve shirt underneath and some short of cardigan over top. I have worn this dress in so many different ways and lots of people wouldn't have bought it because it isn't modest.
Then I talked about layering shirts. I had to mention this because I CANNOT stand when women do this. . . See this shirt? It is not meant to be worn by itself!
I have nothing against these layering shirts but they are for LAYERING! I wear them quit often but only under things. If you are endowed and you wear one of these without something over it we can all see things that are sacred and we don't want to see. I feel like they are almost immodest because of that! Instead of wearing a layering shirt by itself just wear a nice white tee shirt instead. They are even cheaper then a layering shirt anyways. Okay done with my tangent.

Next I talked about 10 staples to have in your wardrobe right now
1. Chambray Shirt- If you are like me and didn't know what chambray is it is just a denim shirt. They are huge right now and there are a million ways to wear them. If you look on pinterest you can find lots of different things to try.
2. Nice Jeans- Dark jeans are always flattering and right now skinny or straight leg jeans are what is in right now.
3. Basic Flats- Having some basic flats can add to any outfit. If you are brave get a fun color like red or pink or even animal print. Throw them on with that white tee shirt and dark jeans and you have a super cute outfit.

These are one of my favorite pairs of basic flats!
4. A maxi dress or skirt- These are huge right now and they are so comfy. They are also easy to make if you cant find one you love.
5. Pencil Skirt- I love a good pencil skirt because you can dress it up or down. throw on some flip flops and that white tee or put on some heels and a nice blouse!
6. Necklace- Having one cute simple necklace can add to any outfit. If you can I like having two. One silver and one more on the gold or copper side because then that matches everything!
7. Braided belt- You can wear one high on your waist line or on some cute skinny jeans with your shirt tucked in or even with that pencil skirt. Always cute!
8, Scarf- Add a scarf to that outfit with the cute flats and tee and you are good to go.
9. Animal print- You have to have something animal print. You don't want to wear all animal print all the time but a cute pair of flats, a scarf, or even a headband would be a good start of you are scared of animal print.
10. Nice tee shirt- Just good to have.

After the ten staples I talked about how to mix and match. The big thing right now is stripes with floral. If this is something you want to try but you are not sure how start with a striped shirt and some flats with a pattern. I will try to start taking more pictures of how I mix and match so that I can share them with you.

The last thing I talked about was shopping on a budget. I am a poor college student and most of my ward is poor so I shared with them how all 10 of those staples can be found for fairly cheap.

Here are some of my favorite places to shop for good deals:
Ross- Those basic flats in that picture are Steve Maddens but instead of paying $70 I paid $15.
Target- Watch for target sales. I get my tee shirts there because they have them on sale for $6 all the time. Sign up for their e-mails and every Sunday they will tell you what is on sale for the week. That is also were I get almost all my jeans.
Groopdealz- If you Google these guys you can learn about how their site works. I get lots of fun jewelry from them for a couple of bucks each.
Old Navy- I don't like their jeans or shirts or anything because they don't seem to be super nice quality but their skirts and dresses are fantastic! You can also always find a coupon code of some short from them.

If you aren't sure where to get something you have seen in my pictures or is on that list of 10 staples just ask. I love to help people find good deals!

Enjoy!

Just Another Manic Monday

So obviously it isn't Monday anymore but the picture below was taken Monday. Mondays are manic because I work full time, usually am doing 4H, and I have grad school. Mondays are always stressful but I love to look cute anyways. I snapped a picture of this outfit because I thought it was a cute one and shows the mixing and matching I always talk about.

These days not matching is the new big thing. Things don't have to match they just have to go together. The fun part about this is that even if you don't have a lot of clothes you can create so many fun outfits!

This outfit also has the popular colors this season. Coral and turquoise or other blues that are close to it and then there is the grey and yellow together. So cute!

Not a super exciting post but just an example of some fun stuff you can do that works for curvy girls too.

P.S. All these clothes are from Target and Bella Ella Curvy so they are reasonably priced for you poor people like me!

Enjoy!

Nailed It!

Okay here we go! Some of you may not know much about me so as we go along I will share a little bit with you here and there so that you know why I do what I do. I LOVE to have my nails painted. Both toes and fingers. I HATE when my toe nails are not painted so maybe one day out of the year they are naked because I didn't have time to paint them or something. If that happens you will NEVER see them because I hide them. I also love my finger nails painted but sometimes I do not have time to do it. I am very busy because I am the primary president, I work full time, and I am in grad school. I usually don't have time for anything extra but I try to leave time to paint my nails. That is sometimes my only relaxation for the week. I can watch something on netflix and paint my nails. Its my favorite! Anyways I want to show you how to do some fun stuff to your nails that make them look all fancy but it really doesn't take much time or talent. If I can do it anyone can! Its all about the...

TAPE
Step 1: Paint your first coat. . . .Make sure this color is the lighter of the two colors because you will paint over part of it later. This way of painting is a process so after you paint the first coat then let it dry for a few hours or over night is even better. The dryer it is the better!

I apologize already for my not so pretty hands and feet but I figure pictures help!

Step 2:  After a few hours add the tape. I didn't get pictures of this because once it is on you have to go quickly but here is what you do: Cut out strips of tape to what ever size of stripes you want. Then stick them on your nails.

Step 3: Paint your nails again with the tape on. As you can see above on my nails I only painted two because that is where I want my designs. The most important part of this is that you have to take the tape back off while your nails are still WET! I learned this the hard way. I had seen this done on pinterest all the time but it never mentioned taking the tape off while the nail polish is wet. If you wait until it is dry it will just rip off the polish.

Step 4: After you finish painting and ripping off the tape it is time to WAIT again. I have some awesome stuff that I put over top of my nails that is quick dry stuff to help it dry faster but you will still have to wait for a couple more hours if you want to add a top coat. If not you are done. Easy! (you may have to practice a couple times and don't get discouraged!)
Here are my toe nails today and I painted them last week. They still look great so it was worth the effort!
Now it's your turn to try. Let me know how it goes and ask questions if you are confused.

If you want to try other stuff here are some pictures that I used tape for as well!

Enjoy!
